Openings
Our cohorts are currently full!
Our next spaces will open in September 2024, when we will begin Cohort 12 with a group of 6 infants aged 3-7 months at that time.We will also be adding a few spaces to Cohort 11 when they move to the toddler room that fall. We will hold an open house in the early spring for those spaces!
If you are interested in being added to our email list to attend an open house or to be alerted in case of mid-year openings, please email Savannah at nestplayschoolpdx@gmail.com.
Cohorts
At The Nest, we serve children from infancy until they reach age 2-3. We enroll young infants 3-7 months old every September, and children remain together for two years, until the September after they turn two. The children spend their first year in the infant room, and their second year in the toddler room; teachers move with their cohort, providing continuity of care for the duration of children’s time at The Nest.
We run two cohorts at a time–one infant group and one toddler group, each with their own set of teachers. We have six infants and eight toddlers each day, with at least two teachers at a time in each room (during certain parts of the day each room has three teachers).
Two years after beginning, children graduate and move on to preschool. We have relationships with many nearby schools, and provide support for families as they start the preschool search.
The Enrollment Process
Generally, families who are interested in enrolling their children at The Nest should attend an open house (or take a tour, in the case of mid-year openings). We hold an open house for the upcoming cohort as soon as our email interest list becomes long enough to justify it–usually in the winter before fall enrollment. We hold a second open house in the spring only if necessary, and offer individual tours in case of unexpected openings later on. We do not give mid-year tours unless there is a space available. You can email us at nestplayschoolpdx@gmail.com to find out about open houses, or to be added to the email alert list in case of mid-year availability.
During the pandemic, we are holding all tours virtually–email us to get connected to our video tour and to set up a zoom meeting to talk more about the program and get to know each other a little!
If you would like to enroll your child after seeing our space and meeting the teachers, submit an application! We will be happy to discuss any questions you have, and we will all consider together whether we are the right fit for your family. If we are not able to offer your family a space at your desired time, we are happy to keep your application on file to be considered the next time that a space opens in your child’s age group.
If we decide to move forward, we will notify you and send you our enrollment packet. Your enrollment will be complete and the space will be officially yours when we have received the following:
- Child Care Agreement (contract)
- Personal/Medical Information Form
- Photography Consent Form
- USDA Food Program Enrollment Form
- First month’s tuition
- A $250 enrollment fee
- A copy of your child’s current immunizations
